The collaboration between Aapo Häkkinen and the Croatian Baroque Ensemble (HRBA) dates back over 20 years. We first met in Zagreb in 2004, doing a memorable production of Pergolesi’s La serva padrona for the Croatian National Theatre.

Ever since we have remained in contact, planning and building new projects in an atmosphere defined by seriousness of purpose and friendliness.

Along the way came Sonja Runje 10 years ago as one of Croatia’s rising star singers, and together we work on the repertoire of highlights, while also discovering new and rarely performed Italian operas and cantatas.

We have always sensed the same exploratory joy, working together and building a professional rapport and mutual trust. It is rare luck to enjoy such enduring trust and friendship. This has enabled exciting risk-taking and facilitated musical content and results that differ from the routine workings of a standard professional orchestra. We wish to thank all HRBA members and other partners over the years for sharing your passion, and for letting us share your company!
