Rafael Becerra began his musical studies at the age of seven in his native city, Mexico City, first with his mother, and then with professor Serguei Gorbenko, before moving on to Basel/Switzerland, where he studied a baroque violin with professors Isabel Schau, Chiara Banchini and Amandine Beyer at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
In Europe Rafael plays with world-renowned artists like Amandine Beyer (Gli Incogniti), William Christie (Les Arts florissants), Giovanni Antonini (Kammerorchester Basel) ,Jémie Rhorer (Le Cercle de l’harmonie), Sir John Eliot Gardiner (Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique), Riccardo Minasi, Giuliano Carmignola, François-Xavier Roth, Trevor Pinock, Chiara Banchini, Luigi Mangiocavallo, playing in the best concert halls, like the Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Vienna, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Kölner Philharmonie, Philharmonie in Paris, Barbican Hall in London, and many others.
He is fortunate to play a Nicolas Vuillaume violin belonging to the Pirolo foundation in Basel, Switzerland.
